Overview

What is Millersylvania State Park?

Millersylvania State Park is a 900-acre camping park on Deep Lake, about 20 minutes south of Olympia, Washington. It has two swimming beaches, a hand-carry boat launch, 8.6 miles of hiking trails through old-growth fir and cedar, and 138 campsites. There is no entrance fee, but parking for the day needs a Discover Pass, $10 a day or $45 a year. It opens at 6:30 a.m. in summer and 8 a.m. in winter and closes at dusk.

The Miller family left their homestead, "Miller's Glade," to the state, which accepted it in 1924. In the 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps crews built the park's log and stone kitchens, bathhouses and comfort stations by hand, and many of them still stand (park history). The park holds about 3,300 feet of shoreline on the 63-acre lake, where boats keep to 5 mph with no wake (Deep Lake).

Summer is the busy season: from Memorial Day to Labor Day you can rent kayaks and paddleboards at the beach (rentals) and get a drink at Lakeside Taphouse in a CCC-era cabin (food and drink). The park stays open all year, with some campsites open through winter (camping). This is an independent guide; the official source is Washington State Parks.
